Barnard Castle
This area, which stretches over 300 square miles, includes the historic market town of Barnard Castle and 35 villages and hamlets stretching from the edge of Weardale down to North Yorkshire, and from the Cumbrian border in the west. The response teams police the district around the clock, while the neighbourhood team works flexibly so that it can respond effectively to particular issues as they arise. Each member of the neighbourhood team has a geographical responsibility to help build good local links. There is also an additional member of staff who concentrates on our Neighbourhood Watch schemes and Farm Watch. Two Special Constables have also worked with us to provide extra patrols.
