Theft from Church

Alert message sent 26/02/2019 10:43:00

Information sent on behalf of Durham Constabulary

We are asking everyone to be vigilant following the theft of collection money from a church in Barnard Castle yesterday.  The male entered the church and used distraction techniques to allow him the opportunity to steal the money.

He is described as 5ft 8, stocky build, around 50 years old, well dressed in dark clothing and a gagool style coat and speaks with a southern Irish accent.

We are concerned that he may try and target vulnerable people in the community so please keep an eye out for vulnerable or elderly neighbours.  If anyone has any information or believes they may have come across this male, please contact police on 101 and quote incident number DHM-25022019-0260.

Many thanks.
