Alert message sent 19/10/2020 08:11:00

Information sent on behalf of Durham Constabulary

Good morning Citizen

The dark nights are starting to draw in and we are continuing to roll on with Operation Trident. Trident is our proactive and positive policing, with assistance from information from our great community in West Durham; Consett, Stanley and Chester le Street.

Firstly is a vehicle our officers seized in the Chester le Street area which was stopped by officers and found to have no insurance. The driver was reported for offences.

Last week in Stanley, officers attended an address following a disturbance. A man was arrested after being found to be in possession of suspected class A drugs. He was subsequently dealt with in custody and given a formal caution.

On Friday in Grange Villa in the Chester le Street area, officers were called to a disturbance where two men were arrested. One of the men was subsequently been charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and resisting arrest and was remanded. An investigation is ongoing to damage which was caused during the initial incident.

On Tuesday in Stanley, a 45 year old man was arrested in connection with damaging a vehicle. He has subsequently been charged with 4 offences, including criminal damage and public order.

In Consett on the same day, officers in Consett had reason to stop a vehicle. The driver was found to be disqualified and in possession of cannabis. He was reported for the driving and drugs offences and will be appearing at court in due course.

This morning officers attended a single vehicle road traffic collision in the Lanchester area of Consett. The driver provided a positive roadside drug test and was subsequently arrested for drug driving. An investigation is ongoing.

And last but not least, officers from Chester le Street have been conducting an investigation in relation to repeated breaches of Covid legislation at an address in Grange Villa, where there have also been several reports of anti-social behaviour. The investigation has now been concluded. This evening, the occupant has been reported for breaching Covid legislation and also for a public order offence. He will be appearing at court in the coming weeks.

As always, you as the public help make all of this possible! If you have concerns about any crime or criminality in your neighbourhood please give us a call on 101 or use the LiveChat on our force website. You can also contact Crime Stoppers if you wish to remain anonymous. Please do not attempt to report incidents through our Facebook inbox as all incidents need to be recorded and dispatched by our control room.
