Chester le Street Police’s Operation Trident’s 2nd update for 2021 is jam packed with news this week, thanks to some great information provided by our community in and around the Chester le Street area. Here’s some of the work we have been up to over the last week;

On Monday, a 27 year old local man was arrested in connection with several burglaries and theft from vehicle offences in and around the Pelton and Newfield areas of Chester le Street. He was charged with two offences and remanded to court. He was subsequently bailed from court with an electronically monitored curfew. The investigations are ongoing. CID

In the early hours of Tuesday morning police were alerted to a reported burglary in progress in the town centre area of Chester le Street. Police resources attended including dog section and the police helicopter. A 35 year old woman hiding behind a fence, and a 34 year old man attempting to hide under a car were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, thanks to the assistance from the police helicopter. On Thursday evening, officers from Chester le Street neighbourhood team received information about the whereabouts of a stolen vehicle in the vicinity of Great Lumley. Police attended and were able to locate the vehicle where it was seized. An investigation is ongoing. NPT

On Friday, police attended a road traffic collision in Perkinsville. A 31 year old man was arrested at the scene having failed the roadside breath test, and also in connection with driving otherwise in accordance with a licence and without insurance. An investigation is ongoing. B RELIEF

On Saturday police attended an address in Pelton following a report of a disturbance taking place. At the address police arrested a 20 year old man on suspicion of breaching a non-molestation order. He was charged with the offence and remanded to appear at court. B RELIEF

Also on Saturday, a 35 year old female was arrested in connection with a burglary from the Grange Villa area of Chester le Street. She was subsequently charged with burglary and remanded directly to court. E RELIEF / CID

Late last year officers from Chester le Street neighbourhood team conducted a house search where a suspected can of incapacitant spray was located. A 36 year old man was interviewed in relation to possession of the item and the article and now the forensic results have been received. A file has been submitted for him to appear at court in the coming weeks. NPT
