Alert message sent 19/08/2020 14:00:00

Information sent on behalf of Durham Constabulary

Good afternoon Citizen

Another week, another Op Trident update! If you haven’t caught our previous releases, Op Trident is our proactive policing operation currently running, based on the back of information and intelligence from our communities in West Durham, covering Consett, Stanley & Chester le Street. Here’s some of the things we’ve been up to this week…

Last Thursday an off duty officer from Stanley neighbourhood police team witnessed an intoxicated man engaging in anti-social behaviour, breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order. Additional police officers attended and arrested the man. He was subsequently charged with breach of the Criminal Behaviour Order.

Earlier this week officers attended an address in the Burnhope area of the Consett division where an e-bike was recovered that was suspected to be stolen. Following enquiries it has been confirmed that the bike was indeed stolen, valued between four and five thousand pounds. An investigation is ongoing.

On Saturday police attended the Pelton area of the Chester le Street division following reports of a suspicious vehicle. The driver was found to have no licence or insurance and was reported to court for those offences. The car was seized.

On Tuesday in Consett officers arrested a 33 year man who was wanted on a recall to prison, having had his release licence revoked. He is now back behind bars.

On Monday police attended a three vehicle road traffic collision in the Sacriston area of the Chester le Street division where two parked cars had been collided with. The driver was reported to court for driving without due care and an investigation is ongoing.

On Wednesday police conducted a traffic stop on a car in the Langley Park area of the Consett division. Three men inside the vehicle were searched under the misuse of drugs act and cannabis was located and were dealt with for drugs possession. The vehicle was found to have no insurance and the driver was reported to court for various driving offences.

Officers from our West Crime Team based at Stanley have been investigating a fraud. The circumstances were that a suspect was identified having used a stolen credit card to purchase goods over the previous few months. A 36 year old female was arrested in connection with this offence and also found to be in possession of class A drugs. She has now been charged with 8 counts of fraud and possession of drugs.

As always, you as the public help make all of this possible! If you have concerns about any crime or criminality in your neighbourhood please give us a call on 101 or use the LiveChat on our force website. You can also contact Crime Stoppers if you wish to remain anonymous. Please do not attempt to report incidents through our Facebook inbox as all incidents need to be recorded and dispatched by our control room.
